So, a session may contain more than one Windows Station and each windows station can have multiple desktops. A windows station is basically a security boundary to contain desktops and processes. This area is where session-private GUI objects are allocated from. A desktop is a session-specific paged pool area and loads in the kernel memory space. These objects include all windows, desktops and windows stations. Ī session consists of all of the processes and other system objects that represent a single user’s logon session. This should be all you need to enable copying and pasting of files to your Remote Desktop session. I should also note that if you have all of these settings configured correctly and things still don’t work, you may need to restart the server or just kill the rdpclip process.

Select the “ Client Settings” tab, and make sure the “ Clipboard” box is unchecked.Under “ Connections“, right-click the connection and select “ Properties“.Launch “ Remote Desktop Session Host Configuration” from the server.Under the “ Client Settings” tab, ensure the “ Clipboard” and “ Drive” is enabled.Select “ Tasks“, then choose “ Edit Properties“.Ensure “ Do not allow Clipboard redirection” is set to “ Not Configured” or “ Disabled“.Navigate to “ Computer Configuration” > “ Administrative Templates” > “ Windows Components” > “ Remote Desktop Services” > “ Remote Desktop Session Host“.In Windows 2016, these settings are controlled within Group Policy.
